Privacy Policy

Effective 20 July 2026

Overview

Travelly ("the app") is an independent, one-person project built by Juan. This policy explains what data the app handles and how, in plain language. Travelly is designed to store as little as possible outside of your own devices.

What Travelly stores

Your trips, itineraries, passport/stats data, and imported CSV history are stored using iCloud (Apple's CloudKit), in the private iCloud account already signed into your device. This data is not sent to or stored on any server operated by Travelly or its developer — it stays within Apple's iCloud infrastructure, encrypted and controlled by your Apple ID.

There is no separate Travelly account, username, or password. The app identifies you only through your device's iCloud session.

Friends feature

Sharing your 8-character friend code lets another Travelly user see your trips, including one you may currently be on, so it can be shown alongside their own. Only sanitized trip details are shared this way — no booking reference (PNR), seat number, or carriage details are ever shared. Friend connections are stored via iCloud, the same as your own trip data.

Live flight, weather, and map data

To show live flight status, weather at your destination, and route/ferry paths, Travelly looks up non-personal details of a trip — such as a flight number, airport code, date, or coordinates — against public aviation, weather, and mapping data sources. These lookups do not include your name, Apple ID, or any other personal identifier.

What Travelly does not do

Your control over your data

Because your data lives in your own iCloud account, you can delete it at any time from within the app, or by deleting the app's iCloud data via Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your device. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete iCloud data unless you remove it this way.

Children's privacy

Travelly is not directed at children under 13, and the app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Effective" date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
